Zhou Gong Dream Interpretation

Introduction

The book “The Interpretation of Dreams by the Duke of Zhou” is a dream interpretation book that relies on people’s dreams to divine good fortune and bad luck, with seven types of dream interpretations. The Duke of Zhou in the book is Zhou Gong Dan, and the dream of Confucius, “I do not dream of the Duke of Zhou anymore”, often appears in Confucianism. In China, where Confucianism has long dominated the culture, the Duke of Zhou is inevitably directly associated with dreams.

Introduction to the Duke of Zhou

The Duke of Zhou, surnamed Ji Dan, was the fourth son of King Wen of Zhou and the younger brother of King Wu, a famous politician in ancient China who twice assisted King Wu of Zhou in his eastern conquest of King Zhou and made rituals and music, and the world was greatly ruled. He was called the Duke of Zhou because his cachet was in Zhou and his title was Shang Gong. At the time of King Wen of Zhou, he was filial and benevolent, and assisted King Wu to conquer King Zhou and was sealed in Lu. The Duke of Zhou did not go to the feudal state but stayed in the dynasty and assisted King Wu to settle the society and establish the system for Zhou. When King Wu collapsed, he assisted King Cheng to take over the government. According to “Qufu County Magazine”, “In the thirteenth year of King Wu’s reign, he fixed the world and sealed the Duke in Qufu, the market of Shaohao, but the Duke did not go to the feudal state and stayed with King Wu. The newly established Zhou Dynasty was facing serious difficulties, as the old nobles of Shang Dynasty were ready to restore the throne, and the Duke of Zhou assisted the government, which was against the principle of succession of sons after the death of the father in the hereditary system of the throne, and caused conflicts within the Zhou family group. As a result, the remnant forces colluded with the rebellious forces within the Zhou family, represented by Wu Geng, son of King Zhou, and Guan Shu and Cai Shu, the “Three Supervisors”. As a result, the Duke of Zhou went east to quell the rebellion of Sanshu, destroyed 50 countries, laid the southeast, and returned to make rites and music. The Duke of Zhou was afraid of losing the wise men in the world, so when he washed his hair, he held the uncombed hair many times; when he ate a meal, he spat out the food in his mouth several times, and could not wait to receive the wise men. This is the idiom of “holding hair and spitting out food”. Once, when King Cheng became very sick, the Duke of Zhou was so anxious that he cut his nails and sank them into the river, praying to the river god, “King Cheng does not know how to do anything, and any mistakes are mine. If I am to die, let me die.” Later, King Cheng did recover from his illness.

Dreams

Dreams are a hidden mirror that peeks into the heart and is another unreal but real life experience. Just like Zhuang Zhou dreaming of a butterfly, we are often shocked and confused by strange and bizarre dreams. What does it mean? What is it suggesting? Dreams are an opportunity to eavesdrop on one’s subconscious and consciousness communicating with each other, and they open the key to the door to self-integration.

Dreams are a singular phenomenon and the experience of dreaming is common to all human beings. However, in human cultures, both ancient and modern, the understanding of dreams has always been a mystery. In undeveloped tribal societies, it is not surprising that dreams are often seen as divine instructions or demonic hauntings. Even in modern civilized societies, there are still many superstitions about dreams. In our culture, there are many stories about dreams. Such as: Zhuang Sheng dream butterfly, a dream of yellow sorghum, a dream of flowers, a dream of Nanke, etc., are the dream stories that have been enjoyed by people. However, it seems that the concept of dreams in China and the West has been different since ancient times. The Greek philosopher Plato once said, “Good people dream, bad people do evil.” Chinese ancestors, however, believed that “the supreme man has no dreams”. A sage is a saint; meaning that a sage has no delusions and therefore does not dream. From today’s scientific research findings on dreams in psychology, there are many misconceptions about dreams in ancient times. According to psychologists’ research, all people dream, regardless of good or bad people, sages or fools, and even animals can dream. Because, when animals sleep, their eyes will also be rapidly beating (you can observe the dog’s sleep sometime). The difference is that animals can not wake up, as people do “dreaming”.

The general psychological explanation of dreams is that they are a spontaneous mental activity that occurs during a certain stage of consciousness during sleep. The whole process of physical and mental changes in the individual during this mental activity is called dreaming.

New theory of dreaming

The brain secretes various chemical substances during its activity to induce normal activity of healthy organs or abnormal activity of diseased organs. This is a mechanical movement, such as the natural pacing of the heart.

Human dreaming is also caused by secretions. These secretions are over-secretion during the day can not be timely catharsis or long accumulation, but also include the secretion of external stimulation during sleep, such as cold at night easy to dream of walking in snow and ice in a single coat. These secretions are transmitted with the blood in various parts of the brain and react with the secretions of the site to generate new substances that stimulate the secretion of chemicals from neural progenitor cells, thereby conducting bioelectricity (these source secretions are secreted by the brain). These secretions, however, are often not generated immediately, but are attached to the proto-cells. The reason for this is that the brain is dormant at this time and there is no source of stimulation; this source can only be what is already present. These secretions can affect mood. General memory secretions, such as knowledge, experience, experience, in the dream to produce background, props, not related to “you”, only affect your thinking, not affect the emotions. Emotional secretions are different, it directly affects your psychological factors. The mechanism is that one source of stimulation stimulates the nerve cells, generating a chain reaction that leads to the production of emotional secretions, which in turn counter-stimulates these sources to continue to secrete, leading to the recurrence of old events. So, although the stimulus source is small, it only needs to have a large enough impact (the importance you attach to the event) to keep you recalling it. These secretions (stimulus sources) are secreted at the time of the event, reacted, chemically attached or generated as part of the brain body, and then broken down under certain conditions.

Dreaming is a virtual simulation of an entity. The secretion stimulates your brain to model the event, while the dream event is stimulated by neuroelectrical stimulation of the body organs, and produces a sensation similar to what really happens, thinking that the neuroelectrical simulation of the stimulation has indeed reached its “motor” intensity. For example, if you dream of running, you will wake up with shortness of breath, rapid heartbeat, and weakness of the leg muscles, but no soreness, because the leg muscles have not been exercised, but only contracted with tension, and cannot secrete lactic acid. Some people who move in their dreams, talk in their sleep, or even sleepwalk, are relatively overstimulated by electrical stimuli for the receivers, i.e. they are overstimulated by the stress of these stimuli, producing knee-jerk-like reflex movements. In this simulation, the memory secretion only plays a “prop” role, but it is very important.

People’s dreams can appear very absurd things happen, but we take it in stride, the reason, I think: 1, because the memory secretion in response to the synthesis of new stimulus source, this stimulus source only has the role of the image characteristics, and the characteristics of its original secretion does not change, it only synthesized or transformed the feeling, that is, let people have the illusion. Therefore, when a person dreams that he or she is walking on the waves, or that he or she is rising from the ground like Wong Fei-hong, it is a synthesis of the illusion of lightness and the real feeling of walking. 2, as a result of the simultaneous stimulation of two stimulus sources, that is, the “embrace” effect (permutation), when the two memory secretions do not react, but only participate in the stimulation, and then metabolize. Next, to explain several phenomena: (1) people often do not dream what they want to do. Although there is a saying that “we have thoughts during the day and dreams during the night”, the source of this is because: (1) the secretion during the day is excessive and partly attached to the brain cells as a source of stimulation; (2) the intensity of the events that occur during the day is too great, which hurts the vegetative nerve cells and causes them to produce “memory “, constantly mechanical secretion, so the simulation goes on and on. People dreaming is the brain’s self-defense, the emotional regulation to a balanced state. This metabolizes the part of the stimulus that occupies too much “memory”.

Types of dreams

In “Zhouli-Chunguan”, six major dreams are clearly proposed: the right dream, the nightmare, the thoughtful dream, the sleep dream, the happy dream and the fearful dream. Chen Shiyuan of the Ming dynasty collected the dreams of all schools of thought and divided the dreams into nine types: the dream of the rich qi, the dream of the weak qi, the dream of the evil allegory, the dream of the stagnant body, the dream of the overflowing emotion, the dream of the straight leaf, the dream of the analogous image, the dream of the opposite pole and the dream of the severe demon, which greatly deepened the study of dreams.

The correct dream

The Zhouli Note: “The one who is dreaming is not touched, and the peace is from dreaming.” This refers to the natural dream that is free from distractions and worries, without stimulation from internal and external factors. Fear of dreams The Zhouli Note: “The nightmare is also a dream of shock and consternation.” Fear dream is also known as bad dream, which is caused by fright, and “frightened because they do not know.” (unexplained fear).

Joyful dreams

Dreams caused by preference or joy. Some people even wake up with laughter in their dreams. The dream of thinking is generally considered to be a dream caused by longing and reminiscing. “The dreams vary from night to night, with the sky and the earth and people and things, and the inner thoughts become of them.” (Guan Yin Zi – Er Gui Chapter) Some people think that Si Meng not only refers to dreaming by thinking, but also refers to dreaming with thoughts and reminiscences.

Sleeping dream

Sleeping dream has been said in different ways, but there are two main cases. One is the dream caused by what is said, seen and done when waking up; the other is the day dream (day dream).

Anti-dream

It is also called the dream of anti-polarity, with the characteristic of “anti image to sign”. Chen Tuyuan said: “What is the opposite pole? There are relatives and swallows will dream of weeping, weeping, mouth and tongue will dream of singing and dancing, cold will dream of warmth, hungry will dream of full …… this anti-polar dream, its class can be deduced.”

straight dream

Straight dream is also called the dream of straight response or the dream of straight leaf (referred to as straight leaf).

Sexual dream

Sex dream for the sex of the dream, that is, by the person’s character, sex and different results of the dream image. Wang Fu said: “people’s feelings, good and bad, or this is good, or this is bad. When each check, often accounted for from, this is called sex dreams.”

Symbolic dream

These dreams do not directly express the dream meaning, but take the symbolic meaning of something or other. “compared to the same Xiao, called the elephant.” (Wang Fu “Qianfu theory”); dreams with symbolic meaning, such as dreaming of snakes, can take the elephant as “the heart is not enough snake swallowing an elephant.

Human dream

Human dream is the same dream due to the dreamer’s social status, gender, age and so on, its and symbolic meaning also changes.

Essence dream

This is the “dream of intentional essence”. “The concentration of the mind is called essence”, “Confucius was born in the troubled times, the day thinking about the virtue of the Duke of Zhou, the night is dreaming, this is called the dream of the intention of essence.” In addition, there are seasonal dreams corresponding to the seasons (“spring dreams, summer dreams, dreams of high brightness, autumn and winter ripe collection”), sickness dreams arising from discomfort in a certain part of the body (“Yin sickness dreams of cold, Yang sickness dreams of heat, internal sickness dreams of chaos, external sickness dreams of hair.”) The dream of the body stagnation caused by some kind of external material stagnation.

Nightmare

About nightmares, I often hear many people say, “I didn’t get a good night’s sleep because I had a nightmare last night.” It is as if there is an unknowable force pressing on you, making it impossible for you to breathe freely. People want to get rid of this nightmare, but they can’t open their eyes and can’t move. It is not until people feel they can no longer stand it that they open their eyes and get out of it. A nightmare usually refers to ghosts and spirits that scare people; a nightmare, then, is when people are frightened by the Sandman. During nightmares, people’s consciousness is blurred but their muscles are completely relaxed, they dream frequently, they cannot move, and they cannot breathe well. During nightmares, it is as if someone is stuck in your neck and there is a feeling of pressure. In addition, it is accompanied by momentary pauses in breathing. At this time, if it is accompanied by nightmares, people will definitely be haunted by them. Tang Han Yu’s “Accompanying Squire Du on a tour of two temples in western Hunan with a song dedicated to Squire Yang”: “Suspicious of being on the waves, fearful of dreams becoming nightmares.” Ming Tu Long’s “Blossoms”: “The nightmare of the Qing boudoir, the worrying moths of the dawn, the gradual fragrant muscle fatigue of the waist.”

Principle of dream interpretation

Some personalities are explicitly conscious, such as my brother’s dream image, which symbolizes my rational personality subject. Some personalities are subconscious, such as the dream of my grandmother, who symbolizes the narcissistic personality. Without dream reminders, it would be difficult for me to realize my selfish narcissistic behavior, and therefore to correct such immature behavior. With the reminder of the dream, it is like installing a selfish alarm for myself, once the childish selfish behavior appears, the alarm will go off, and when I hear the alarm, I can correct my mind in time to “catch” the narcissistic personality! For humans, the mind and the right brain use figurative language, and the rational and left brain use abstract language such as words and mathematics. The difference is that figurative language is a continuous symbol, which is characterized by curves, unity, vividness, softness, blurriness, infinite variation, and universality; abstract language is a discrete symbol, which is characterized by the opposite of continuous symbols: straight lines and sharp angles, separation, rigidity, clarity, limited variation, and specialness. Figurative language is fundamental and innate; abstract language is derivative and acquired. To live in a human society, one of these two languages is indispensable.

Dream Interpretation Culture

Every human being has to dream, and dreams come and go with him/her throughout his/her life. As long as the human brain has the ability to think, dreams will last forever. Dreams are not divided into noble and lowly, young and old, honorable and inferior, male and female, Chinese and foreign, only the content of dreams is different. Dreams are like the human figure, both commonplace and mysterious, both illusory and real. If we say that dreams are hallucinations, but the characters and events in the dreams are all vividly visible after waking up; if we say that dreams are real manifestations, but it is difficult to find people and events in dreams that are completely consistent after waking up. Sometimes when we think about something in the day, we dream about it at night; sometimes when we see something in the dream, we meet it in the day. The mystery of dream is so much that our ancestors also knew it long ago, that is, to produce dream culture. Dream culture is an important and indispensable part of ancient Chinese culture, although it is difficult to reach the grand hall, but it is widely spread among the people.

In the history of arts and mathematics, it is difficult to find the art of dream interpretation listed here, only because dream culture is very popular among the people, and can predict good and bad luck from dreams.

The ancients divided the dreams into the following fifteen categories according to the different contents of the dreams.

Direct dream that what happens when you dream, and who you see when you dream. People’s dreams are symbolic, some subtle, some straightforward, the latter is a straight dream. If you have not seen your friend for a long time, and you dream about it at night and see it in the daytime, this is also a direct dream.

The symbolic dream means that the dream meaning is expressed in the dream content by symbolic means. Everything that we dream is expressed through symbolic means. Into the dream to ascend to the sky, in fact, people can not ascend to the sky, here, the sky is with symbolic meaning. Such as the sky symbolizes masculine, noble, emperor; earth symbolizes feminine, mother, fertility, etc..

Dreams made due to the stimulation of the five senses during sleep. The dream is due to the dream of “the strong yin is involved in the big water, the strong yang is involved in the big fire, through the band and sleep is dreaming of snakes, the flying bird with hair is dreaming of flying”.

Thinking dream is the dream made by the intention, is the product of the inner spiritual activities, usually said that “the day has a thought, also has a dream” that is thinking dream. Fine dream is a dream caused by the state of mind, is the dream made by the concentration of the mind, so close to the dream of a dream.

Sexual dream is a dream caused by the different temperament and likes and dislikes of people. Sexual dreams are not mainly about the reason for dreaming, but about the dreamer’s attitude toward the dream.

Human dreams are dreams in which the same dream has different meanings for different people.

Sensory dream is a dream caused by climatic factors. That is, due to the external climate, people have a sense of the dream.

Time dream is the four seasons, the dream caused by the seasonal factors for the time dream. “spring dream, summer dream, dream of high brightness, autumn and winter dream of ripe hide, this is called the time dream.

The opposite dream is the opposite dream, the yin pole is auspicious, the yang pole is evil, called the opposite dream. In the folk dream interpretation, often in the dream and the opposite of the fact that, in the generations of canonical books, there are also more anti-dream records, idioms also have a sorghum dream allusion to the Tang-Shen both Ji “pillow in the record”, said Lu Sheng in the dream enjoyed the glory and wealth, woke up, the steam sorghum rice is not yet cooked, only to end up an empty. It can be seen that the counter dream in the human dream occupies a large proportion.

Dreams are also known as dreams, such dreams in ancient books also have a lot of records. People believe that the gods or ancestors will foretell us the good and bad fortune through dreams.

Sending dream is A’s good and bad luck in B’s dream, B’s good and bad luck in A’s dream, or induction of the same dream in different places. Sending dream is a dream formed due to induction between people. Turning dream refers to the content of the dream is changeable and erratic.

Sick dream is the dream omen of human body disease, from the perspective of Chinese medicine, it is a dream caused by the imbalance of the five elements of yin and yang of the human body. The ghost dream is a nightmare, a horrible and scary dream.

Ghost dreams are mostly due to incorrect sleeping posture or due to some lesions of the body.

Dream interpretation stories

The sickness is very serious

In the tenth year of Duke Cheng, the Marquis of Jin (Duke Jing) had a dream on a day, which was very dangerous and was a nightmare invasion. In the dream, he first saw a large, stern ghost with disheveled and long hair, trailing from his head to the ground, and pounding his chest and shouting toward himself saying, “You killed my grandson, it is so unjust, I must ask heaven to punish you, the murderer!” Then Jin woke up and felt that this was an ominous sign, so he summoned a witch from Santian to tell his dream. Upon hearing this dream, the witch said, “It seems that the king will not be able to taste the new wheat.” From this, the Marquis of Jin became seriously ill and did not recover from his illness. With his illness, day after day, it was soon the time when the wheat was ripe. The Marquis of Jin remembered what Santian had said in his earlier divination and thought that it was pure nonsense, so he decided to taste the new wheat himself in front of Santian. However, when he was about to eat, his stomach suddenly became bloated and unbearable, so he went into the toilet and fell into the cesspit and died. But this act allowed Santian Wu to witness the verification of his prophecy. This incident is recorded in the Zuo Zhuan. The two children in Jinhou’s dream were actually the visualization of the disease in his dream. In ancient Chinese medicine, the fat beneath the heart was called “paste”, and there was a diaphragm between the chest and abdomen, “Zhizhi” was the part between the heart and the diaphragm. At that time, it was believed that the diaphragm under the heart was an important part of the body, and the doctors could not do anything about diseases in this area. This is the origin of the phrase “the sickness is beyond cure”, which is used to describe the seriousness of the disease, and it is also used to describe the seriousness of the situation.

Flying to the sky and hurting his wings

Tao Kan once had a dream in which the shuttle hanging on a wall suddenly turned into a swallow and flew up to the sky, and he also managed to fly up to the sky. In the dream he saw that there were nine gates to heaven, and he walked into eight of them, leaving only the last gate to enter heaven, yet just as he was about to enter, he was knocked down to the ground by the gatekeeper and was wounded on one wing. Since then he woke up with a start, and suddenly felt a great pain in one of his arms, which made him realize that this dream was for the purpose of reminding himself: dreaming of going to heaven represents wanting to ascend to heaven to be the son of heaven and become the emperor; while being knocked down to the ground represents that it will eventually be the result of failure. This was Tao Kan’s interpretation of the dream he had. He believed that this dream was a kind of divine revelation, and that the dream was telling him not to act rashly, and that if he did that, he might be beaten to the ground. Tao Kan was convinced of this, and in order to avoid the coming danger, even when he had soldiers and horses from eight states and had the strength to fight for the throne, he held down his ambition and gave up his move to claim the throne.

Confucius dreaming of sitting

It is said that Confucius had a premonition of the end of his life before he died, based on a dream he had in the middle of the night, in which he saw himself sitting between two pillars and came to the conclusion that he was going to die. The day after his dream, he told Zigong about the differences between the funeral rites of the Xia Hou, Yin and Zhou people, and then said, “Qiu is also a Yin person. I had a dream sitting between two pillars at night in the past. If the king is not rising, and who in the world can be the father of the king, I will probably die.” When he explained that he was going to die, Zigong could not believe it, but later Confucius really passed away after seven days of illness. The “pillar” is the pillar in the hall, and the dream of sitting between the two pillars was originally considered by Confucius to be a sign of his death, and sitting between the two pillars and being sacrificed with wine and food was the very position of the dead and the sign of the dead.

Dream of Xue Rengui

The legend says that after the accession of Emperor Tang Taizong, he had a fierce dream in which a fierce and fierce man chased him with a big sword and wanted to take his life, and when his life was at stake, a white robed general suddenly appeared and was very brave, successfully defeating the chaser and saving himself. In order to thank his benefactor, Tang Taizong went up to him and asked him for his name, but instead of answering directly, he read out four lines of poetry: “My family lives in a little red, and there is no trace of my shadow. The three-year-old child is worth a thousand gold pieces, to protect the Lord across the sea to conquer the East.” After saying this, he jumped into the mouth of a dragon and disappeared. On the next day, Emperor Taizong mentioned the dream to his ministers for an explanation, and some of them explained that there was a fierce man chasing him in the dream, so it must be a rebellion somewhere; regarding the four lines of the poem of the young general, the first line of the poem, “My family lives in a little red at home”, means that his residence is Shanxi; jumping into the dragon’s mouth, it should be Longmen County in Shanxi; the next two lines are his name, such as The next two lines are his name, for example, “there is no trace of shadow under the snow” is snow, and the sound of snow is the same as “Xue”, so the young general should be a person surnamed Xue; “a three-year-old child is worth a thousand gold” is about “people are expensive “So his name should be “Rengui”, and the last sentence indicates that this person may be an important general of the court in the future.

Fu Rong’s dream to solve the case

Dong Feng returned home after three years of study, but his wife was killed that night, so his wife’s brother thought it was Dong Feng’s fault and sent him to the government for punishment. Dong Feng complained and insisted that his wife was not killed by him. But who was the murderer? This is a major case of human life, a slight error, not only to the deceased did not account for, is likely to kill another life. As a secretary of the Beijing Zhaoyin school guard Fu Rong did a careful examination of the case, also think that the matter is a little strange, so they asked Dong Feng if he had asked someone to divination. Sure enough, Dong Feng said he had a dream before the case to ride a horse across the river, first from the north bank to the south bank, and then from the south bank back to the north bank, and finally from the north bank back to the south bank. In due course, the horse stopped in the water, no matter how he whipped it refused to go. He looked down, there were two days in the water, the horse left a day for white, soaked and wet; horse right a day for black, appear dry. When he woke up, the dream was still fresh in his mind and he was terrified, thinking that it must be an ominous sign, and strangely enough, on the night he returned, he had the same dream repeatedly. The diviner told him that he was afraid of a lawsuit in the near future, and warned him to “stay away from three pillows and avoid three mucus”. Taking the diviner’s words to heart, he did not accept the mucus and pillows his wife prepared for him that night, but she was killed the next day. After listening to Dong Feng’s dream, Fu Rong deciphered it himself and concluded that the murderer of Dong Feng’s wife was a man named Feng Chang. This is how he interpreted Dong Feng’s dream: Fu Rong transformed Dong Feng’s dream into the trigram of Zhou Yi: the symbol of water is “Kan”, and the symbol of horse is “Li”; since the route of the horse in the water is from north to south, and from south to north, its route becomes Since the horse’s route in the water is from north to south and from south to north, its route becomes the shape of “zhi”; thus, Dong Feng’s dream image can be converted into “kan zhi li”. The shape of “kan” is three, three lines with the change that becomes the shape of “li” three. “away” for the two yang lines sandwiched between a yin lines, for the “female”, “Kan” for the two yin lines sandwiched between a yang lines, for the “male “. Dong Feng saw “two days” in the water, symbolizing the two men involved in the case, one for Dong Feng, the other is not yet clear. “Kan” is also a symbol of law enforcement officials, when the top. Thus, the Kan on the next and form the “both Ji” trigram. According to the precedent of this trigram, “King Wen encountered, the prisoner of the envy. If the defendant is justified (“ritual” through “reason”), and finally must be able to prison in life. According to the interpretation of the word “horse left and wet” in the dream, it should be water on the left and horse on the right, which together is the word “Feng”. “Two days” overlap, and is the word “Chang”. Therefore, the real murderer of Dong Feng’s wife should be another man “Feng Chang”. Although the process of deciphering this is very complicated, but when the government arrested Feng Chang according to this, Feng Chang really confessed. According to the real culprit, he originally wanted to kill only Dong Feng, intended to use the new pillow as a symbol, but did not know that Dong Feng did not use the new pillow that night, and as a result, he killed his wife by mistake. This dream example is based on the translation of the original text recorded in the Book of Jin – Fu Rong Zhuan. In the story, Fu Rong’s analysis of Dong Feng’s dream, which was used to break the case, can be said to have taken a lot of thought. However, even from the perspective of the art of dream telling, there are many interpretations that are too far-fetched.

Childhood Dreams

If you are a parent, you may be interested in learning more about the dreams of children. If you remember a recurring dream from childhood, perhaps the ideas below can help you understand the cause or meaning of dreams from early childhood. I have noticed that sensitive adults are more likely to have nightmares than others. So I suspect that gifted and sensitive children are also prone to nightmares. As is the case with adults, those scary dreams don’t always suggest a serious problem. They may reflect the stress, confusion and over-stimulation that our lives contain until we are seven or eight years old. You should recognize that, to a certain extent, nightmares are common for children before the age of seven or eight. Your understanding and support may not eliminate these dreams, but they are still very important to your child. To encourage your child to share their dreams is a good way to do this, as describing the dream alone can dissipate their tension. Please don’t subconsciously say to your child, “You’re already okay, because this is a dream, and dreams aren’t real.” Responding to your child with “it’s not real” can make them feel that the person they are dealing with is incapable of understanding the seriousness of the situation. This can prevent your child from wanting to confide in you about other alliances in the future, or frustrate him because you don’t seem to believe him or understand him. In addition, your child may sit up from bed and continue to see the dream scene playing out for a few seconds afterwards. This hallucination-like experience is very distracting to parents who think it is a very different experience from the parental dream tour. When you really open your eyes, the dream is over and you are “safe”. But a child can open his eyes, sit up, and still appear to be talking to someone in the dream, or make a grief-stricken face, even if you are holding him and trying to get his attention. This phenomenon seems to be individualistic in the sense that some children do this and some do not. This may follow a genetic pattern, like sleepwalking and sleep-talking. In general, these experiences are not signs of a problem, but you can consult your pediatrician if you suspect your child has a sleep disorder.

Scientific explanation

Dreams are residual activities of the cerebral cortex and can better reflect psychological changes in daily life and even physical health conditions. For example, dreaming of a green snake when you are sick often means that your body’s functions are declining and your condition will worsen. However, dreams do not reflect your fortune, career, nor do they express any future conditions of other people.
